Blog Prompt : Silver Workforce

Greetings to one and all who are present for this speech. Today, I am here to represent the older workers who could very well be under your management after this speech is delivered. both the pros and cons of hiring older workers will be provided for you.

So, I guess everyone presnt must be wondering, what good is there is hiring older workers? They are slow, unproductive and inefficient. Well, I tell you that that is not a problem at all. The Ministry of Manpower are providing funds to make jobs more age-friendly. This allows the jobs assigned to older workers to be at the correct pace for them. Furthurmore, older workers are much cheaper as compared to the younger workers.

To add on, there are some jobs that older workers are more likely to do which the younger generation of Singaporeans would not do. Some examples are : cleaning public toilets, working at coffeeshops and hawker centeres clearing dishes. The majority of the younger generation in Singapore nowadays have diplomas, degrees etc. They are more likely to possess a white collar job. As older workers are by large illiterate, they do not really mind such jobs. All they ask for is a steady income so that they may enjoy three meals a day.

So, I am appealing to all of you to give them a chance. A chance to prove their worth to all of you. With that, I bid farewell. Thank You!
